Centre for Advanced Research

Centre for Advanced Research (CAR) was established on June 2017 under the R & D wing of Athreya Research Foundation. The Centre is mainly focussed on socially relevant research in the fields of health care and biodiversity in addition to its extension activities. In addition to this, the Centre also acts as a platform for the cross talk between different emerging fields in science and technology. The Centre promotes research, training and technical expertise on socially significant areas, particularly in health care and environmental issues.

PROJECTS

CASE STUDIES ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF AYURVEDIC
TREATMENT METHODOLOGIES IN THE MANAGEMENT OF AUTISM.

Funding: Athreya Research Foundation
Duration: 3 years (2017- 2020)
Overview: Autism spectrum disorders characterised by hyperactivity and
behavioural deficits is an inborn disease manifesting its symptoms in the early life itself. Only very limited therapies were recognised to effectively address the problem and most of them do not guarantee a permanent cure. Considering the increasing incidence of the disorder in our community and its psychological influence on the family of the patients, it become important to scientifically monitor the effectiveness of alternate therapies in the management of this disease.

IDENTIFICATION AND CONSERVATION OF INDIGENOUS VARIETIES
OF MEDICINAL PLANTS IN THE REGIONS OF CENTRAL KERALA

Funding: Athreya Research Foundation
Duration: 3 years (2017- 2020)
Overview: Many indigenous varieties of medicinal plants are vanishing from its ecosystem due to urbanisation and other factors. This calls for an immediate need to identify the diversity of the natural flora; to recognise various medicinal plants and conserve those which are fast declining from the natural habitat.

News and events

Centre for Research, Athreya Research Foundation (CAR-ARF) is in its budding stages now with the vision of spreading its wings in areas which provide benefit to both the society and the scientific community. To achieve this goal, we fine tuned our primary focus on socially relevant areas and planning ‘out – reach’ programmes to school children and general public in selected topics which need immediate action. As part of our social commitment, the Centre has actively collaborated with the International Yoga Training Centre of ARF in organising the 5-day Yoga Retreat Program to be held at Yoga Centre Campus during December, 2017. The centre’s name find its place among international scientific community by the acceptance of abstract in the 6 th Global Botanic Gardens Congress, Geneva, Switzerland during June, 2017 on the theme Science for society and the research publications communicated from CAR- ARF.
